SEBASTIC
Collection Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 ‘When flowers fade, and the sparkling snow falls down on me’

“Despite the heavy rain showers that draw across the country, the lightning striking the highest trees and the snow that will fall later on in the evening; inside the house flowers are still fiercely blooming and we are trying to revive the warmth of the summer…” Inspired by the film ‘Pink Narcissus’ (1971) by James Bidgood, the new Sebastic collection is one in which (erotic) fantasies, dreams and self-glorification of a handsome boy are poetically translated. Combined with a great dose of longing desire after sultry summer nights, it evolved into a collection with an emphasis on the beauty of a young Adonis.

Drab autumn and winter skies are translated by Sebastic into a colour palette predominantly consisting of blue and grey tones. By adding bright accents he also brings the longing for summer into the colour scheme. Fashion designer Sebastiaan Kramer was young when he started his training at the ArtEZ Arnhem Academy of Art and Design, things he then perceived as innocent later turned out to be a big part of his inspiration. Because he could observe his contemporaries from a distance and see what they passed through, he was able to make a clear and abstract evaluation of the people that surrounded him. This developed into a fascination for the adolescent and their manners. As a logical result of his background this originated into Sebastic, a menswear label that can be subscribed as naïve, young and positively anarchistic, with a tongue-in-cheek sensibility. His imaginative muse stays true to his innocence and harmony from his early years and so keeps fresh and naïve in dealing with daily reality. In the beginning of 2006 Sebastiaan Kramer and his companion Sjaak Hullekes founded their Arnhem based company Arnheim Fashion, coordinating both their labels, Sjaak Hullekes and Sebastic.

This collection is made possible with support of the Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture (Fonds BKVB), Introdans and Toneelgroep Alaska.
